Hey guys! So just 22 days left and I cannot believe time has
past so quickly. This past week has been a lot of fun! My first day of school
went smoothly and I LOVE working part time, although we have had so much to do
that I felt like it was not part time :) Tuesday after work I took the dogs to
the vet for their annual check-ups and thankfully everything came back clean
and they are very healthy, of course. They seem to know Jackson is coming soon
and they are both always around me. I know they are going to do so well with
him and I can’t wait for them to meet him, what little boy doesn’t want two
wonderful dogs to grow up with. Wednesday was the start of my first weekly
appointments and also our last ultrasound. The ultrasound was so wonderful and
I was glad Zach got to be there to share it with me. He is still head down and
very low so it was hard for them to get great views but we took what we could
get. He is also measuring perfectly right at 36 weeks and 2 days (when we did
it). They also took pictures of his stomach, thigh bone, and head circumference
to get his weight, which was 6 pounds. This means he will most likely be around
8 pounds when he is born if he goes to his due date. During the ultrasound we
also got to see him moving, which was so amazing! We saw him put his hand in
his mouth and also saw him sucking on his tongue. The lady doing the ultrasound
also showed us all of his major organs, including his heart-which was beating
at 137 beats per minute. She also confirmed for us he is still a boy so no
surprises for delivery day:) After the ultrasound we met with our doctor and
then both got a tdap shot, which helps prevent whooping cough. Apparently there
has been a high number of whooping cough cases in California and now in the
South this year. Thursday we met with our Gospel Community and shared a
southern style dinner-YUM! It was also a great night of sharing time with
friends and talking about God’s awesome plan for us. Friday I made dinner for
Erin and her family and got to meet their sweet little addition, Jack. He was
so cute and made me even more excited to meet our little guy. I am so happy he
is going to have lots of friends to grow up with! Saturday I went to a
conference with work in Orlando and it was fun to learn some new teaching techniques
and strategies to use in my class. Today we heard a great sermon at church on
“the gathering” and afterwards we had lunch with the church and had a meeting
on the mission for the church. We got a little rain from Isaac, but not too
terrible. We are hoping this upcoming week is not bad weather wise and we are
praying for those who are it its path.
Now for our constantly growing little man, he is 6 pounds and somewhere
around 20 inches-about the size of a honeydew. Most of his systems are just about
equipped for the outside world. He is also starting to shed most of the downy
hair that covered his body, as well as the vernix caeaosa. He swallows these
substances, along with other secretions, and they form a tar-like black
substance called meconium, which will make up his first bowel movements. At the
end of this week he will be considered full term! I have noticed that he has
started to drop some, which causes some discomfort at times-especially when
walking. I am also having more and more trouble sleeping through the night. I
have also been having Braxton Hicks, which is a good sign because it means my
body is getting ready for his arrival!! We are getting so excited and cannot
wait to hold him in our arms.
